Diocesan Choir Concert
The recently formed Diocesan Choir for the Diocese of Tyler welcomes everyone this afternoon to our annual Saint Cecilia concert of sacred music. One of the works being presented is the “Missa Octavi Toni” (also known as “Missa Jager”) by Orlando di Lasso. He was born circa 1532 in a region that is now Belgium, and died on June 14, 1594. in Munich, Germany. Di Lasso was one of the most prolific composers of the late Renaissance —he wrote 530 motets, 175 Italian madrigals, 150 French chansons and 90 German lieder as well as almost 60 Masses.
The Diocesan Choir will also be singing at other diocesan functions, such as Ordinations, Chrism Mass, etc. Director for the group is Dianna Braquet, Cathedral Choir Director; organist is Brian Braquet, Cathedral Director of Music and Worship.
